Seven—and One—Fables That May Keep You Awake
If You Read Them on a Sleepless Night — Chapter Three

Early in the morning,
Guu drifted through the rain.

The falling drops,
sliding along its body,
felt gentle and pleasant.

At a station below,
a woman stood waiting for a train,
holding an umbrella,
her expression heavy with weariness.

Guu spoke to her.

“Why do you always look so unhappy
while waiting for the train?”

She replied:

“Today,
it’s simply that I dislike this cold, dark rain.

Yesterday,
it was the endless repetition—
going to work and coming home.

The day before,
it was that I hated myself—
for doing nothing,
even though there are so many things I want to do.”

Guu asked her:

“Why don’t you do the things you want to do?”

She answered quietly:

“I love to dream.

But I’m afraid of failing,
so I do nothing.

To tell the truth…
right now,
I feel like crying out loud.”
